Fundamentalism

Fundamentalism is most essentially the overriding drive to preserve the core beliefs of a community against outward corruption or inward compromise. The term was first popularized through the publication of the books 'The Fundamentals' (1910-15), which aimed to defend what they saw as the core of Evangelical Christian beliefs from both liberal Christian and secular challenges.
