The Christian subtext of the Narnian Chronicles has been in the news a little recently.

Polly Toynbee's 'Narnia represents everything that is most hateful about religion' (The Guardian, UK: Dec 5) was also carried, hilariously retitled, by The Age in Melbourne as Nearer, My Narnia to Thee in Melbourne (Dec 10).
The Washington Post took up the story. (Dec 8)
Catherine Seipp in the National Review (Dec 9) seems bored more than anything by vaccuity of the various charges (racist, sexist, intolerant).
Again, in The Guardian, Zoe Williams offers a secular response to Toynbee with Leave the Lion Alone. The hollow criticism of the Narnia books' biblical subtext smacks of mindless offence-seeking. (Dec 13); meanwhile The Observer (related) made coverage the subject of How to Read the Papers #6.
